10 Verses for When You are Feeling Hopeless

Life with Christ gives us so much hope. Enough hope to keep living. Enough hope to look forward to the future. What happens when you lose sight of that hope, even if just for a season? Life seems impossible. Life seems to have no purpose. It is a life where people seem self-serving and no one cares for you- not even God. I have been there. I have had moments where life seemed so hopeless, I wanted to give up.  The moment I stepped away from God and the hope he gives I was lost. Even if you have a strong relationship with God, stumbling can occur. It doesn’t make you less of a child of God. Here are 10 verses I like to read when I fall back to that feeling of hopelessness.

My First Love

I love my husband so much. We have known each other over ten years and I couldn’t imagine life without him. With all that said. He is not my first love. He didn’t love me first. He hasn’t been with me my whole life. He hasn’t been through some pretty rough times with me. Jesus has though. Jesus is my first love.8b656669f23c1044618fb9d333c61f69

Jesus is my first love because I can hide nothing from him and He still chooses to love me. My husband doesn’t know all my deep dark secrets or the thoughts of my heart. Jesus can read my thoughts and my inner heart, and can still love me through the ugliness. Romans 5:8 says, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. Jesus loves you too! Let Him love you!

Jesus is my first love because he will never leave me. I might have to live without my husband someday. No one but God knows what the future holds. Nothing can separate me from the love of God. I cling to the promise of Romans 8:37-39, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”.Continue Reading

January is the Sanctity of Life month for me it is a life purpose from natural conception to natural death.  Most people think that abortion is the debated sanctity of life issue, but truly every life matter whether in the womb or out of the womb.  I was only 22 months old when Roe vs Wade made abortion legal.  I want to tell you two stories that really moved me.

The first was about 15 years ago one of my best friends at work opened up to me about the abortion she had and how it haunted her.  She had gone in to get advice on what she should do with the baby she was carrying.  She was young and unmarried.  They told her an abortion was not a big deal she would be fine.  So she had the abortion and she was not fine.  After this she had 2 other babies she gave up for adoption and then gave birth to her son.  At the time she and her husband was expecting another baby they were keeping.  My friend told me of the hurt she had carried for so many years.  Everyday she thought of the baby she aborted and at time could not even function at all.Continue Reading
