My First Love

I love my husband so much. We have known each other over ten years and I couldn’t imagine life without him. With all that said. He is not my first love. He didn’t love me first. He hasn’t been with me my whole life. He hasn’t been through some pretty rough times with me. Jesus has though. Jesus is my first love.8b656669f23c1044618fb9d333c61f69

Jesus is my first love because I can hide nothing from him and He still chooses to love me. My husband doesn’t know all my deep dark secrets or the thoughts of my heart. Jesus can read my thoughts and my inner heart, and can still love me through the ugliness. Romans 5:8 says, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. Jesus loves you too! Let Him love you!

Jesus is my first love because he will never leave me. I might have to live without my husband someday. No one but God knows what the future holds. Nothing can separate me from the love of God. I cling to the promise of Romans 8:37-39, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”.

Jesus is my first love because he will never let me down. Friends, family, churches, and worldly resources can leave you empty and alone. This happens because they are humans and things created by humans. God is perfect and so is His love. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases” Lamentations 3:22

Jesus is my first love because He gives me a future by having died for me and rising again. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life”. I do not have to suffer eternally because Jesus took my punishment for my sins.

Is Jesus your first love? Do you treat Jesus as your first love?
