Temptations: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor Movie Review

My husband and I watched this movie together the other day. It is a Tyler Perry movie. The movie is really good, but doesn’t end the way I would have liked or expected. Temptations: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor is a movie regarding the dangers of having an affair. Even though Tyler Perry movies are mainstream they always have a Christian element in them.

Temptations: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor Movie Review

Do you ever think your marriage is boring? Does your husband not notice you or flirt with you as much anymore? I think we all remember the beginning of our relationship with our spouse. Flowers at random, sneaking kisses, and midnight phone calls keep new romances fresh in our minds. After awhile though daily life takes it toll. Intimacy may not be as often.  Dreams might not have come true. We don’t get that special attention anymore. It is not because he doesn’t love you anymore, or that he loves you less. It is just because life happens. Yet, we as women yearn for that attention. It is a danger though that we must avoid.

A man other than your husband compliments you and it excites you. Judith, the main character, married the love of her life. After 6 years of marriage, she believes her life is going nowhere. All of a sudden a man shows up in her business life that seems to sweep her off her feet.

All of a sudden Judith is making wrong choices right and left. Her momma, her husband, and even her non-Christian boss try to warn her. Judith though is seduced by loving words, good looks, and money. She has a great husband, a good life, and a good family and doesn’t see what is right in front of her.

One scene in particular stands out to me and reminds me of my husband. Judith’s husband forgets her birthday. He works at a pharmacy and it is inventory day, so that is what is on his mind. Her male friend on the other hand got her roses with a card. Judith gets home and her husband realizes he forgot her day, he puts on some music and sings and dances for her. She smiles and you can tell she doesn’t really stay mad at him. My husband has the ability to do some stupid things, but he always can make me laugh and forget about the stupid stuff. I love my husband so much.

The ending of the movie shocked me. I almost cried. I don’t want to give it away but there are consequences for our actions. This movie ends in a real way. You reap what you sow. Temptations: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor is a movie that will make you appreciate your spouse and the life that you have. I hope this movie prompts couples to put more effort into their marriage and communicate if a need is not being recognized.
