My first Christian novel I ever read was by Janette Oke. My foster mom introduced me to Christian fiction when I was 16. Her stories gave a me a peek into what I wanted my life to be like. I am not meaning pioneer life, but a life that is honest, pure, and a life that shows that God is #1.
About When Calls the Heart
Elizabeth Thatcher leaves her upscale life in the east to pursue being a teacher in a coal mining town out west. Life out west is harder than she imagined, but the people she meets in Coal Valley compel her to stay and teach. One of the people she meets is Constable Jack- a Mountie. They have a complicated relationship during season one and I look forward to seeing where their relationship goes in season 2. I just love how Daniel Lissing brings to life my romanticized image of the Mountie that I grew up reading about in Janette Oke books. The TV series is a bit different than the books, but not enough that you don’t recognize the love between the characters and the hardships of living out west.
I got the chance to preview the season 2 premiere, but before I did that I had to watch season one. I do not have cable, but the show is available through streaming online. It took me about 2 episodes before I was really hooked on the show. I am a true #heartie now and after watching the season two premiere I am hungry for more.
I am not going to spoil anything about the season 2 premiere, but I do have to say that it is a rather emotional episode. Make sure you have you tissues handy! The only thing I didn’t like about the season 2 premiere is that it ended too soon. I need to know what happens next.
Interview with Erin Krakow
On Tuesday I got the chance to teleconference with Erin Krakow. She is such a sweetheart that has always loved acting. Her interest for acting started when she was 5, her mom had another baby and she wanted more attention. She found it in acting. She loves being on the show where the cast is like a big family and has even had the chance to meet Janette Oke. Erin Krakow feels like she is pretty similar to her character personality-wise, they are both driven positive, grounded and passionate. Erin does credit herself a better cook/baker than her character Elizabeth though. The most rewarding part of her job is seeing the reaction from the #hearties fans.
****Fun Fact****The outfits Erin Krakow wears on the show are sometimes very constricting and she does wear a corset. Her favorite outfit so far is the pretty dress she wear is the season 2 premiere during the dinner party during the second half of the episode.
